WHO ARE WE

The Queensland Mailbox Bible Club is a non-profit, non-denominational organisation operated by Christians who volunteer their time and efforts to send out Bible lessons through the mail.

See our Lessons page for a current list of lessons available.

Our lessons teach important truths from God's Word, the Bible, showing the way of Salvation. The lessons also reinforce family values and good living. We encourage you to read the sample lesson on our lessons page and compare the teaching with what you find in your own Bible. Members of many different denominations accept and use these lessons.

SOME HISTORY - The early Beginnings

The Northcotts

The mission was commenced in March 1978 by Beres and Grace Northcott, in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, with the set purpose of teaching basic Bible truths to children, teenages, and their families in Queensland.

From those early small beginnings, the Bible Club grew to many thousands of members throughout the whole of Australia and Papua New Guinea who regularly receive lessons. Beres was also instrumental in establishing other Mailbox Bible Clubs in Romania, New Zealand, Singapore, Zimbabwe, and other countries.

Grace Northcott was called home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ in 2000 and Beres retired from Q.M.B.C.

In 2008 Berres was also called home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ.

THE EXPANSION OF THE WORK

Akehurst family - Dec 2009

In 1990 Gary and Joanne Akehurst, moved from Sydney to Brisbane as Office Manager to continue to lead the work forward, along with the team of dedicated volunteers.

Over the years the work has expanded to include students in Papua New Guinea, The Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Fiji, Thailand, Pakistan, and Ghana, with a few members from many other countries.

In 2008 Gary and Johanne Akehurst retired from the work due to Gary's ill health.

THE PRESENT - The work continues

QMBC is above all a work of the Lord, so while we wait on Him to provide a replacement for Gary and Johanne Akehurst, the work continues on in the hands of the volunteers and with the Lord's help.

Further lessons have been added to the existing lessons, and more are planned.

See the Lessons page for details of the new "Panaroma of the Bible" Course recently added.

Many adults are now being blessed by studying the lessons too. Please do not let your age disuade you from joining. The same good news God has for children, He has for adults also.

We would value your prayer and support for this vital work of teaching the Truths of the Bible to this and comming generations in the will of the Lord.

OUR TEAM OF VOLUNTEERS

QMBC Workers May 2007

Queensland Mailbox Bible Club could not function without it's team of volunteers. Each one is dedicated to sending out the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ to a needy world.

We thank the Lord that He has provided them all for over the 30 years that QMBC has been operating.

Each year in May we have a "Thanksgiving Service" to give praise to our God for his goodness and blessing to us and the work of QMBC.

The photo to the right is of all the volunteers present at our 2007 Thanksgiving Service.

WHAT DOES IT COST ?

For the students it costs nothing - Lessons are Free !!

For our Australian students, we are able to provide Reply Paid envelopes, so that return postage is free. Of course, some of our members do put a stamp on the envelope, which is appreciated as this saves us paying the postage. Apart from the lessons, we award certificates for each course completed, and award prizes as funds permit.

HOW IS QMBC FUNDED.

Q.M.B.C. is funded by free-will donations from interested Christians, Assemblies, and Churches who desire to see that the Truths of the Bible, and the way of Salvation, are made freely available to all. We ask no contributions from our students at all. We rely on the goodness and provision of our God for this work to continue. Of course, if you would like to make a donation, it would be much appreciated. See the Contacts page for our postal address.

SOME IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE.

FOR PARENTS / GUARDIANS.

Our only contact with your child is through the mail. For children under 16 years of age we ask that you give permission for your child to do the lessons, so that you know what they are reading. We encourage you as parents to read the lessons too. We would be only too pleased to enrol you as a student as well.

OUR RECORDS AND YOUR PRIVACY.

Students names, addresses, and personal information, etc are kept on our computer database. All names and addresses on our database are used for Q.M.B.C. purposes only. We do not sell or give this information to any other individual or organisation.

VOLUNTEER WORKERS.

All our workers have been "background checked" by the Queensland State Government (Australia) and are all approved for working in child related employment. This is now a requirement under Queensland State Government law.

HOW DO I ENROL ?

Go to our Contacts page. There you will find information to enable you to contact us either by e-mail, telephone, or ordinary post. We look forward to hearing from you.
